Seekur
®
|
Seekur is a sturdy, all-weather
platform that can handle everything from open fields to parking
garages. Its unique shape and omni-directional
steering allow truly holonomic movement-
meaning it can turn in its own length or even head out sideways if
blocked from front and behind. It can operate in Ackermann steering
mode as well as omni-directional, making it ideal for intelligent
navigation research. Seekur offers space, power
and networking for up to five EBX form factor PCs. This opens the way
for onboard vision processing, radio-based communications, laser rangefinding, DGPS, and other autonomous
functions.
|
|
|
Seekur runs up to
seven hours on its
nickel-cadmium batteries. Seekur's four monster wheels mounted on steel
suspension are designed for speeds up to 2.2 meters per second [5mph]
and slopes up to 20% with good response, even with a 70kg payload.
Seekur options include laser, DGPS, stereovision, thermal sensing, an
inertial measurement unit, user I/O expansion and a rapidly growing
suite of other options.
The
bare Seekur base
with included ARIA software and optional radio modem has the ability
to:
- WANDER randomly,
avoiding obstacles
- DRIVE controlled by
keys or joystick
- COMMUNICATE SENSOR
& CONTROL INFORMATION including steering and traction motor data,
user I/O, and battery charge data
- RUN C/C++ PROGRAMS
created with or without ARIA or our other software development
environments
- SIMULATE BEHAVIORS
OFFLINE with the simulator that accompanies each development environment
With at least one
Seekur PC and our Laser Mapping and Navigation option, Seekur can:
- MAP warehouses,
hangars and other spaces in minutes
- PLAN PATHS to goals
- AVOID OBSTACLES along
the way
- NAVIGATE TIGHT SPACES
for delivery or docking

TECHNICAL
FEATURES
|
| Built
by production engineers with years of experience, the
powerful Seekur utilizes
a weight saving aluminum unibody placing
rugged steel steel suspension components
low on the robot. This lowers the center of mass for better terrain
handling and grade capability. The pneumatic 400mm diameter tires
handle indoors, outdoors and in between. This omni-directional
platform is completely holonomic. It can
turn in place, move in any direction without rotating, steer with
Ackermann geometry, or combinations of the above.
Seekur
can climb a 20% grade and 100mm steps. On level surfaces, Seekur can move at speeds
of 2.2m/s [5 mph], with payloads up to 70kg. Payloads include all
accessories and must be balanced appropriately for effective operation
of this or any robot.
Seekur
can operate approximately 7 hours on a fully charged battery pack.
Re-charging time is 8 hours with the standard rate charger, less with a
high power charger.
Proprietary
firmware running on an environmentally hardened microcontroller
controls the platform. It accepts commands and transfers status and
sensor readings to a PC client using the same Aria protocol as all
other MobileRobots platforms. These PC client programs can be run from
Linux or Windows, using Aria and other robotics development libraries
to handle navigation, path planning, and many other robotics tasks. |
