Reliable, safe automatic charging is a
critical component of any autonomous robotic application. Pioneer
3-DX's and PeopleBots now offer a plug-n-play option to handle all
aspects of the docking and charging problem.
- FAST-CHARGING: Smart electronics charge robots at
full-capacity regardless of the power draw from PC, laser and other
accessories -- far faster than most plug-in chargers; yet batteries are
protected against overcharging
- SAFE: Smart-charge system means that power is only supplied
to the charging station when the robot is docked and even then only at
16.5 VDC; circuit is current limited and electronics thermally
protected.
- RELIABLE: Our system, including the retractable contact
plate, is guaranteed for one year, which is thousands of charges.
Optional 2-year warranty.
- PORTABLE CONVENIENCE: Omni-directional design and robot
intelligence
allows the floor-side charging system to be plugged in beside nearly
any
wall and re-located in minutes.
- FULLY INTEGRATED: Calls from Advanced Robotics Interface
for Applications (ARIA) can begin the auto-docking process on any
Pioneer 3-DX or PeopleBot with Laser-Mapping and Navigation. Typically
these calls are initiated upon low battery status and upon task
completion. Dock appears as a goal in Laser Maps.

CONSTRUCTION: Rubber mat with tinned
copper charge plate on fiber reinforced plastic substrate
REQUIREMENTS:
POWER INPUT - 100-240 VAC, 50/60Hz, 1-2 amps
CHARGE POSITION - Robot must be positioned +/-75mm, +/-30 degrees for
charging to take place; this is handled automatically by included
software, but must be manually positioned with push-button control.
