Reliable, safe automatic charging is a critical component of any autonomous robotic application. Pioneer 3-DX's and PeopleBots now offer a plug-n-play option to handle all aspects of the docking and charging problem.

  • FAST-CHARGING: Smart electronics charge robots at full-capacity regardless of the power draw from PC, laser and other accessories -- far faster than most plug-in chargers; yet batteries are protected against overcharging
  • SAFE: Smart-charge system means that power is only supplied to the charging station when the robot is docked and even then only at 16.5 VDC; circuit is current limited and electronics thermally protected.
  • RELIABLE: Our system, including the retractable contact plate, is guaranteed for one year, which is thousands of charges. Optional 2-year warranty. 
  • PORTABLE CONVENIENCE: Omni-directional design and robot intelligence allows the floor-side charging system to be plugged in beside nearly any wall and re-located in minutes. 
  • FULLY INTEGRATED: Calls from Advanced Robotics Interface for Applications (ARIA) can begin the auto-docking process on any Pioneer 3-DX or PeopleBot with Laser-Mapping and Navigation. Typically these calls are initiated upon low battery status and upon task completion. Dock appears as a goal in Laser Maps.

CONSTRUCTION: anodized aluminum spring-loaded retraction plate with  berylium copper contacts 
REQUIREMENTS: Pioneer2-DX8, Pioneer 3-DX or Hitachi HS8-based PeopleBot with Laser Mapping & Navigation
ROBOT GROUND CLEARANCE with Docking System: 
2.0" (5 cm), excluding any bumpers
CONTROLS: Manual push-button option to manually engage charge contact when robot power turned off


FLOOR AUTO-CHARGE STATION SPECIFICATIONS



CONSTRUCTION: Rubber mat with tinned copper charge plate on fiber reinforced plastic substrate
REQUIREMENTS:
POWER INPUT - 100-240 VAC, 50/60Hz, 1-2 amps
CHARGE POSITION - Robot must be positioned +/-75mm, +/-30 degrees for charging to take place; this is handled automatically by included software, but must be manually positioned with push-button control.
DIMENSIONS:  
RUBBER MAT -: 27" x 36" x 3/8" (68cm x 90cm x 1cm)
POWER SUPPLY - 8.5"  x 5.25"  x 4.5" h (21cm x 13cm x 11cm)

CHARGE RATIO:  1:1 run-charge ratio with robot in constant motion off the dock; better if robot is not moving constantly

ELECTRONICS: Power shut down in event of any error encountered during charging cycle. Charging electronics thermally protected. Batteries protected from overcharging with "float" mode.
